Shared Substrates

Since many (membrane-bound) substrates can be shed by different proteases, it is important to take this into account when analysing the overall protease processes in signalling networks in health and disease. Therefore, we also analyse the overlapping use of proteases for the release of inflammatory mediators. In particular, ADAM10, the close evolutionary relative of ADAM17, shares many substrates with the latter.
